Finally finished!!!\u00c2\u00a0 I started these socks<\/a> (Ravelry link) two years ago this month.\u00c2\u00a0 No, it doesn’t take two years to knit a pair of socks.\u00c2\u00a0 But it does if they’re for yourself and other projects keep coming along to steal your attention.<\/p>\n

I got them back out after all of the gift knitting was finished and resolved that they would be my knit group project until they were finished.\u00c2\u00a0 At two knit groups a week, it didn’t take very long.\u00c2\u00a0 I was nearly there anyway; the heels had been turned and I was almost halfway down the feet.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>These are very easily my favorite dressy socks now.\u00c2\u00a0 They fit very well and are warm and comfortable.\u00c2\u00a0 The pattern was fun to knit as well – easy to remember after a few repeats, with just enough variety to keep it interesting.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s called Child’s First Sock in Shell Pattern out of the Knitting Vintage Socks<\/a> book.\u00c2\u00a0 Despite the name, the instructions are written for an adult sized sock.\u00c2\u00a0 I had to do a bit of improvisation to work them two at a time on two circular needles, rather than one at a time, but it really was only a big deal when turning the heels.<\/p>\n

Two things come to mind now that I’ve finished this project.\u00c2\u00a0 1) I’m not a fan of pointy toed socks.\u00c2\u00a0 Next time I’ll figure out how to change it to a rounded toe instead.\u00c2\u00a0 2) I prefer toe-up construction, for the ease in the beginning and end and for the ease in turning the heel when working two at a time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
