{"id":20,"date":"2010-10-08T11:18:52","date_gmt":"2010-10-08T18:18:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/?p=20"},"modified":"2010-10-08T11:18:52","modified_gmt":"2010-10-08T18:18:52","slug":"im-okay-its-just-a-bump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/?p=20","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;m okay, it&#8217;s just a bump"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, for those of you who don&#8217;t know already, last Friday was my last day at work.\u00c2\u00a0 It was a crazy day, as all last days are, with lots of ups and downs and in-betweens.<\/p>\n<p>For my part, I tried to keep an upbeat spirit about the whole thing.\u00c2\u00a0 But I have to admit it got to me on occasion anyway.\u00c2\u00a0 Like when my teammates (who are scattered across the country) convinced me to join a conference call using a rather dubious reason, only to surround me with virtual hugs and well wishes instead.\u00c2\u00a0 I must admit that I puddled up.\u00c2\u00a0 It was rather naughty of them, but it made me extremely happy.<\/p>\n<p>I felt pretty free when I signed off for the last time.\u00c2\u00a0 I looked forward to attending knit nite at <a title=\"Serial Knitters Yarn Shop\" href=\"http:\/\/serialknitters.com\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Serial Knitters<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 I even enjoyed myself there and met some very interesting women.\u00c2\u00a0 (I&#8217;ll definitely be attempting to make attendance a regular thing!)\u00c2\u00a0 But I did descend into a mild sadness afterwards.\u00c2\u00a0 Fiance did his best to cheer me up, supplying me with the friendly crowd and beverage I requested, but after a hearty try I took myself home instead.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday was spent entirely on the couch, excepting the occasional trip to the freezer for the decadent ice cream I had procured for myself on a whim the day before.\u00c2\u00a0 I ate it all.\u00c2\u00a0 Didn&#8217;t share one bite, no matter how he begged and pleaded.\u00c2\u00a0 It was all mine.\u00c2\u00a0 And you know what?\u00c2\u00a0 It worked.\u00c2\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know how &#8211; maybe chocolate really can restore your spirits after a dementor attack &#8211; but I&#8217;m a convert.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday we went for a beautiful hike (more on that later).\u00c2\u00a0 Monday I launched back into job searching in earnest.\u00c2\u00a0 On Tuesday I decided to tackle the large pile of boxes still taking up space in the living room &#8211; and managed to spend all day in fabulous physical activity setting my new home straight.\u00c2\u00a0 Well, getting it <em>straighter<\/em> anyway.\u00c2\u00a0 We are still by no means finished unpacking.\u00c2\u00a0 On Wednesday I adventured out in search of the nearest driver&#8217;s licensing location and came out with a reasonably okay picture on a temporary license to prove my efforts successful.\u00c2\u00a0 It looks like me, which is all that&#8217;s required for a license photo.\u00c2\u00a0 On Thursday I adventured again, this time to downtown Seattle to have lunch with a very old friend from my Memphis days.\u00c2\u00a0 I came back home thinking that one hour was not nearly enough time for us to visit with each other.\u00c2\u00a0 We&#8217;ll have to either repeat more often or have them over for an afternoon one weekend.<\/p>\n<p>This morning I&#8217;m reflecting on the transition I made last Friday and thinking that it&#8217;s been pretty smooth.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m okay now, it was just a bump.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ll go to knit nite tonight and socialize, and tomorrow I might get up and go hiking.\u00c2\u00a0 Monday will start a new schedule and routine, so that I keep some comforting structure and don&#8217;t slip into the dregs again.\u00c2\u00a0 Gotta keep busy!\u00c2\u00a0 Getting stuff done makes me happy, and I have a lot on my to do list.\u00c2\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, for those of you who don&#8217;t know already, last Friday was my last day at work.\u00c2\u00a0 It was a crazy day, as all last days are, with lots of ups and downs and in-betweens.
