{"id":291,"date":"2012-04-08T10:31:35","date_gmt":"2012-04-08T17:31:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/?p=291"},"modified":"2012-04-08T10:31:35","modified_gmt":"2012-04-08T17:31:35","slug":"finishitis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/?p=291","title":{"rendered":"Finishitis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a term in the knitting community for starting a bunch of projects all at once that may or may not get completed.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s called startitis.\u00c2\u00a0 And it&#8217;s a real problem for some people.\u00c2\u00a0 You may know it as &#8220;oooh shiny!&#8221; in the regular world.\u00c2\u00a0 Something catches your fancy and suddenly there&#8217;s the overwhelming need to drop everything and start that new project or buy that new thing.<\/p>\n<p>In the knitting world there&#8217;s an opposite term, that is (understandably) used more rarely, for finishing a bunch of projects all at once.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s called finishitis.\u00c2\u00a0 And I had it in a bad way a few weeks ago.\u00c2\u00a0 The overwhelming need to finish up several of my projects to clear the slate for new ones.<\/p>\n<p>You can imagine that it was a very happy moment when this round of finishitis was over and startitis was allowed to set in.\u00c2\u00a0 But that&#8217;s getting ahead of things.<\/p>\n<p>In one week I completed:<\/p>\n<p>A second honeycomb cowl, this one for myself.\u00c2\u00a0 Technically I started this project the same week, but we won&#8217;t count that.\u00c2\u00a0 It was a very fast knit, aided by a week of vacation and a very long plane flight.\u00c2\u00a0 It is just the thing to go with my grey plaid rain jacket and has been keeping me perfectly cozy for the past several weeks.\u00c2\u00a0 I can&#8217;t say enough how much I am in love with this cowl.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_9378_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-292\" title=\"IMG_9378_sm\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_9378_sm-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_9378_sm-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_9378_sm.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>My blue socks.\u00c2\u00a0 These are wonderfully soft, squishy, and warm.\u00c2\u00a0 They&#8217;ve become a new wardrobe staple, whether they are being shown off or hidden within my boots.\u00c2\u00a0 Must make more.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_9372_clr_trm_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-293\" title=\"IMG_9372_clr_trm_sm\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_9372_clr_trm_sm-300x247.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"247\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_9372_clr_trm_sm-300x247.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_9372_clr_trm_sm.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>A dishcloth that had been taking up space in the project bowl for entirely too many weeks.\u00c2\u00a0 Get it out of the way already!<\/p>\n<p>And then, just as fast as it set in, finishitis was over.\u00c2\u00a0 Ahhhh!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a term in the knitting community for starting a bunch of projects all at once that may or may not get completed.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s called startitis.\u00c2\u00a0 And it&#8217;s a real problem for some people.\u00c2\u00a0 You may know it as &#8220;oooh &hellip;
