Hood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fianc\u00c3\u00a9 and I decided to take a quick trip to Portland and the Mount Hood area this weekend.\u00c2\u00a0 He has been snowboarding several times at the major ski areas on the mountain and wanted to show me around.\u00c2\u00a0 The minor reasons for going were to briefly see his good friend who lives in Portland, scout out a potential wedding spot, and introduce me to an area where we will most likely make regular trips.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, we went to the mountain first!\u00c2\u00a0 Actually, it&#8217;s a volcano&#8230;you can see that it easily dwarfs all the mountains around it&#8230;and is one of a chain of volcanos running along the cascades that includes Mount Jefferson, Mount St. Helens, Mount Rainier, and Mount Baker.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4240_trm_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-36\" title=\"IMG_4240_trm_sm\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4240_trm_sm-300x208.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"208\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4240_trm_sm-300x208.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4240_trm_sm-1024x710.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4240_trm_sm.jpg 1752w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The drive up to the mountain was pretty impressive.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4246_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-37\" title=\"IMG_4246_sm\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4246_sm-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4246_sm-200x300.jpg 200w, http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4246_sm-682x1024.jpg 682w, http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4246_sm.jpg 1218w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>Fiance loves to drive the Mini in the curves.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m pretty sure he was in his happy place on this trip.\u00c2\u00a0 Wheeeeee!<\/p>\n<p>We could begin to make out the year-round snowfields as we drove up to <a title=\"Timberline Lodge\" href=\"http:\/\/www.timberlinelodge.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Timberline Lodge<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 If the height of the poles on the sides of the road are any indication, the snow gets fairly deep here.\u00c2\u00a0 (I know, understatement.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4250_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-38\" title=\"IMG_4250_sm\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4250_sm-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4250_sm-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4250_sm-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4250_sm.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I discovered that Timberline is a year-round ski resort, only closing for a couple of weeks at the end of the summer for maintenance.\u00c2\u00a0 Fiance pointed out that there were quite a few little skiing and snowboarding dots up there on the snow.\u00c2\u00a0 He also pointed out that yes, this is the lodge used for the exterior shots of the building in the movie The Shining.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m ignoring that little tidbit of information &#8211; not into horror movies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4266_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-40\" title=\"IMG_4266_sm\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4266_sm-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4266_sm-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4266_sm-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4266_sm.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>We chose to eat at the lodge&#8217;s delicious brunch buffet and explore the lodge and surrounding grounds instead of playing in the snow.\u00c2\u00a0 There were lots of hikers, picnics, and wedding parties.\u00c2\u00a0 We were also checking out the lodge as a potential wedding spot.\u00c2\u00a0 It appeals because of the great views of the top of Mt. Hood, as well as views of Mt. Jefferson in the distance.\u00c2\u00a0 The interior of the lodge itself is also very beautiful, and offers several wedding options.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_39\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4263_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-39\" title=\"IMG_4263_sm\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4263_sm-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4263_sm-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4263_sm-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_4263_sm.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-39\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">View of Mt.
