a Forest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The latest spinning adventure started with a braid of BFL fiber hand dyed in sections of light blue-grey, olive green, rusty brown, and brown-black.\u00c2\u00a0 I decided to try a new-to-me spinning technique to take advantage of the lovely coloring and mix things up a bit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_20140822_153347_clr_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-541\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_20140822_153347_clr_sm-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20140822_153347_clr_sm\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_20140822_153347_clr_sm.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>The technique is called fractal spinning, and it is intended to break up long sections of different colors so that they are evenly mixed together along the yarn once the singles are plied together.\u00c2\u00a0 The fiber is first split in half along the length.\u00c2\u00a0 One half is spun as it appears, and the other half is split several more times before being spun.\u00c2\u00a0 I split the second half of my fiber into eight sections.\u00c2\u00a0 This makes the color changes happen more frequently on the second half than on the first half.<\/p>\n<p>I am loving how the first bobbin spun up.\u00c2\u00a0 Those colors work really nicely together.\u00c2\u00a0 Like my other BFL spinning projects, creating the singles went super fast.<\/p>\n<p><a bobbin.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_20150403_124557_clr_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium together, I wasn&#8217;t really seeing a difference between this yarn and the yarn I had spun earlier.\u00c2\u00a0 It didn&#8217;t appear to me that the colors were mingling any more than when I had just spun a braid from one end to the other.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_20150426_093609_clr_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-549\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.tangledstrands.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_20150426_093609_clr_sm-225x300.jpg\" couple of skeins.\u00c2\u00a0 Now I can see a bit of a difference.\u00c2\u00a0 And I have to say I like it.\u00c2\u00a0 Though next time I will ply three bobbins together instead of just two.\u00c2\u00a0 I think that will make a bigger difference in mixing the colors.<\/p>\n<p><a
